Map Crafts: Magical Ears

Do you have park maps lying around from your latest trip? It’s time to give them a new life! Find a pair of ears, scissors, and a glue gun, today we are making park map ears!

First Things First

I suggest a pair of ears that are flat, so the gluing is easier since the park maps are paper, you can even make your own by cutting the ear shape out of cardboard and finding a headband to glue them on. We love collecting maps, so we often look for ways to showcase them!

Next Step

Once you have your ears, lay them on the part of the map you wish to cut and trace! Doing this will allow you to chose the face on the ears and what will show, we used two maps because I wanted to cut out the castle and hub grass area for both. If you don’t have maps, you can print them here.

Tips and Tricks

The secret to get a seamless trim is to cut out the area of the map you wish to use, in a full circle, even though your ears aren’t an exact circle. When you go to glue them, you will take your scissors and split the middle the part that hangs past the headband.

Then simply glue that down, the cut will allow the folding down without creating a crease on your ear. These ears are a fun way to reuse that paper and add a special touch to your park ears. For the Bowless option, we went with a Main Street and Castle map part; you can showcase your favorite land, the ears with a bow showcase the castle. We love finding new ways to use our Disney trinkets we collect, in the next blog post I’ll bring you another idea for reusing your park maps, so if you haven’t already, subscribe to get notified as soon as that drops!

Have a Magical Day!
